149. Miscellaneous Water Works.-The following is a statement of the expenditure on the work carried out under this heading:-
(1). Alterations to the Peak Rising Main,...... $ 3,430.91 (2). Laying 8" main in Leighton Hill Road,... 2,621.30 (3). Pedestal Hydrants. 3,590.25 (4). Minor extensions to mains, 1,049.24 (5). Unforeseen Works, 19,316.76 Total........... $ 30,008.46(1). A new steel distribution box was fixed to the Peak rising mains near the Pokfulam Road Pumping Station.
(2). 1,000 feet of 8″ C. I. Main was laid along Leighton Hill Road from Canal Road, West, to Percival Street.
(3). 18 Pedestal Hydrants of an approved pattern have been fixed to mains of 6" diameter and over.
(4). Minor extensions to mains included the laying of 1,000 lin. ft. of 4" W. I. pipe in Plantation Road from the Peak Club to “Redhill", and 1,600 lin. ft. of 3″ C. I. pipe in the new street behind “Le Calvaire" (not completed by the end of the year).
(5). Unforeseen Works included the completion of the new distribution mains at Kennedy Town referred to in last year's Report.
Four Patersons' Chlorinomes were obtained together with the necessary chlorine in cylinders. One of them has been erected at the Albany Filter Beds and another at the Elliot Beds.
150. Chinese Cemeteries,--Laying out of new areas.-The work carried out under this heading has been alluded to in paragraph 37 of this report.
