163. Mataukok Slaughter House, Inspector's Quarters.—It was not found possible to proceed with this work during the year, there was consequently no expenditure under this heading.
164. Mongkoktsui, New Market.-A Contract for this work was let in December. The work will consist of 2 markets of the open type, the roof being of ferro-concrete carried on brick piers. The necessary caretaker's quarters will be built on the roof, and the structures are designed to carry another floor. Provision is made for twenty-two 10-ft. stalls and a chicken killing compartment.
The contract was signed too late in the year for a commencement to be made.

Tsimshatsui Water Police Station, addition of 3rd storey to Main Building.--This additional storey to the Main Block consists of three large Barrack Rooms, Lavatories, &c., together with Verandahs. The latter were also added to the Quarters at both ends. The work, which was executed by Messrs. Sang Lee & Co. under the Contract for Maintenance of Buildings, was commenced early in the year and completed in November.

166. Cattle and Swine Depôt, Yaumati.--This building was referred to in paragraph 145 of last year's Report.
It was not found possible to proceed with the plans of the permanent buildings during the year.
167. Quarters for Scavenging Coolies (100) at Yaumati.--This work was referred to in paragraph 146 of last year's Report. It was decided not to proceed with this work until the general development of the large area of land involved, and the requirements of other buildings to be erected thereon, had been considered. There was consequently no expenditure under this heading.
168. Trough Closet at Kowloon City.-It was not possible to proceed with the work, owing to the resumption negotiations for the approved area not being completed. There was consequently no expenditure under this heading.
