1. The total Shipping entering and clearing at Ports in the Colony during the year 1922 amounted to 708,244 vessels of 46,566,764 tons, which, compared with the figures of 1921, shows an increase of 35,564 vessels, with an increase of 3,145,994 tons.

Of the above, 50,427 vessels of 29,543,564 tons were engaged in Foreign Trade, as compared with 52,222 vessels of 27,852,616 tons in 1921.

2. Of vessels of European construction, 5,318 Ocean Steamers, 3,552 River Steamers, and 3,243 Steamships not exceeding 60 tons, entered during the year, giving a daily average of 33.2 ships, as compared with 33.8 ships in 1921 and 29.4 ships in 1920.

3. The average tonnage of Individual Ocean Vessels entering the Port has increased from 1,919.8 to 2,068.6 tons; that of British Ships has increased from 1,997.5 to 2,131.0 tons, while that of Foreign Ships has increased from 1,857.9 to 1,957.7 tons.

The average tonnage of Individual River Steamers entering during the year has increased from 460.5 to 598.8 tons.

That of British River Steamers has increased from 570.5 to 822.8 tons, and that of Foreign River Steamers has increased from 316.7 to 318.9 tons.
