Regrets, in reply to No. 51, that the finances of the Colony will not per- mit of the purchase of slides, but states that simple hygiene is taught in the Government schools, and that he encourages such instruction.
Acknowledges receipt of No. 51, and refers, in reply, to No. 56; it is con- sidered that lantern slides would be beyond the comprehension of children, but might be used for the lectures of the Royal Sanitary In- stitute.

Asks if arrangements could be made for the supply of the slides mentioned in No. 67, and if so, at what cost; enquires what other subjects are con- sidered suitable for lantern lectures in connection with the teaching of hygiene in Colonial Schools. Forwards report by the Acting Surgeon-: General stating that there has been no systematic teaching of hygiene during 1906, but that it will receive. attention as opportunity offers.
Acknowledges receipt of No. 71, and states that the slides indicated can be provided; adds that local photographs for preparing slides illustrative of the breeding grounds of germ mosquitoes, &c., will be required.
Transmits copies of Nos. 71 and 73, and requests that, if the Colony desires to avail itself of the offer of the London School, the negatives referred to may be forwarded with a statement of the number of alides required in each
case.
Reports action taken on No. 51 and for- wards copy of Dr. Twomey's lectures.
Forwards copy of a letter from the In- spector of Schools stating that arrange- ments have been made for a further course of lectures on hygiene.
