SIR,

[Answered by No. 83.]

South Kensington, S.W., April 4, 1906.

I AM directed to inform you that the Senate, at their last meeting, appointed to the Chair of Protozoology, Mr. E. A. Minchin, M.A., Jodrell Professor of Zoology at University College, London, and sometime Fellow of Merton College, Oxford. I am to add that there was a large and distinguished field of candidates for the post.

As the Colonial Office is no doubt aware, Professor Minchin was recently despatched to Uganda to investigate the subject of sleeping sickness, and is now engaged in completing the work which he began in East Africa
