States nature and functions of the pro- posed Advisory Board and requests the Royal Society to nominate a repre- sentative; suggests Sir M. Foster.

Suggests that the Australian States will profit by the investigation, and invites a contribution to the fund; gives names of the members of the Advisory Board and a list of contributions already made.

Minutes of first meeting

Memorandum by Mr. Lucas setting forth the results of the first meeting of the Board and submitting pro- posals; approved by the Secretary of State.

Proposes to grant certain sums for the objects and under the conditions specified; authorises the expenditure of a sum not exceeding £250 for the equipment of a laboratory; enquires whether the arrangement proposed for the appointment of a Professor of Protozoology by the University of London would be acceptable to the Society.

Proposes to grant a sum of £500 for one year on the conditions named, to be laid out on some definite object approved by the Advisory Board; enquires whether the offer will be accepted and as to the object to which it is proposed to devote the sum allotted for the year 1905.

Requests advice as to the best manner of utilizing the aums available for general research.
