Grenada, January 27, 1900. IN continuation of my despatch, St. Lucia, of the 30th ultimo, I have the honour to transmit Administrator King-Harman's despatch of the 19th instant, covering a Colonial Bank draft for £300 as a first instalment from St. Lucia in aid of the sufferers from the war in South Africa. In reference to Grenada help I hope to address you soon,

I HAD the honour to inform you by telegram on the 12th instant that I had received a donation of £250 from the "Daily Mail Kipling Poem Fund" for the benefit of the dependents of the contingent of the Ceylon Mounted Infantry on service in South Africa, which sum had been paid to the Crown Agents for the Colonies, to be placed to the credit of your Government.

2. I leave to your discretion the decision as to how this money may best be applied.

3. I have thanked Mr. Harmsworth on behalf of the Government of Ceylon for this generous contribution in recognition of the loyalty displayed by the Colony.

In connection with my despatch of 16th of January I have the honour to transmit the duplicate of a despatch from the Administrator of this Presidency, informing me that special services were held on the 10th instant in the different churches of the island for the preservation of British arms and the successful termination of the struggle in which we are now engaged in South Africa, and that all such services were well

attended.
