Soon after the second case was reported, Circular No. 14, which is attached, was sent out to each Medical Officer. From the replies already received it would appear that the disease has only, so far as the Protectorate is concerned, been recognized in the Koinadugu District, the Medical Officer of which reports three cases and alludes to others. I have asked him to make every endeavour to ascertain the incidence of this disease whilst he is on patrol.
