3. On the recommendation of the Committee Mr. Harcourt has approved the renewal of the grant of £450 from the Tropical Diseases Research Fund for she year 1915, and the Crown Agents for the Colonies have been authorized to pay this sum to you, on application, on or after the 1st of July, 1915. It is understood that the grant will be allocated in the same way as that made in 1914.
4. The Committee supported your recommendation that Dr. E. W. Hindle and Mr. T. Storrar Cave should be paid by you their stipende, during their absence on military service, less their military pay and allowances. Mr. Harcourt approves of your issuing pay to these gentlemen accordingly, on the assumption that their military pay and allowances amount to less than their normal stipends. He pre- sumes that you will furnish, in due course, statements showing the sum saved out of the grant for their salaries in 1914 and in 1915.
5. The arrangements for Dr. Hindle's scientific expedition to Central Africa having been cancelled owing to the War, I am to request that you will repay to the Crown Agents for the Colonies the sum of £300 which they issued to you earlier in the year to meet the expenses of the expedition. As soon as circumstances permit of Dr. Hindle carrying out the proposed investigation, the Crown Agents will re- issue to you this sum.
