(No. 19.) SIR,
Government House, Brisbane, 12 April, 1913. WITH reference to your despatch, No. 24, of the 20th of February last. informing me of the progress that has been made with the scheme for setting up an Imperial Bureau of Entomology in London, I have the honour to enclose herewith a copy of a letter from my Acting Chief Secretary, from which it appears that a parcel of entomological literature has been sent direct to the Director of the Bureau, and that steps will be taken to empower the Agent-General to represent the Government of Queensland on the Management Committee of the Bureau.

WITH reference to despatch (Queensland, No. 24), dated 20th February last, received by Your Excellency from the Right IIonourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies, on the subject of the scheme for setting up an Imperial Bureau of Entomology in London, I have the honour to inform Your Excellency that, in accord- ance with the request contained in the third paragraph of the despatch, a parcel of entomological literature, as detailed on the accompanying list, has been forwarded direct to Mr. G. A. K. Marshall, the Director of the Bureau.
With regard to representation on the Management Committee, I may inform Your Excellency that steps will be taken to empower the Agent-General to represent this Government thereat.

King's House, Jamaica, 26 April, 1913. I HAVE the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch, Miscellaneous, dated the 29th March, 1913,* respecting the proposal to appoint an entomologist on the staff of the Agricultural Department of this Colony, and suggesting that the matter should again be brought before the Privy Council.
2. In reply, I beg leave to say that I shall not fail to endeavour to impress on the Privy Council the desirability, upon both agricultural and medical grounds, for the appointment of an entomologist.
3. With reference to your despatch, Miscellaneous, of the 19th November, 1912, and the second paragraph of Sir Sydney Olivier's despatch, No. 454, of the 31st December last, in reply, I have the honour to report that the Legislative Council have voted a sum of £50 as this Colony's contribution towards the expenses of the Entomological Research Committee for the year 1913-14, and I would ask you to be so good as to direct the Crown Agents to pay that amount to the Committee.
