States that the Committee are prepared to agree to the proposal in No. 18, but would ask the Council to abstain from issuing the reproduction unless it is approved by the Committee, and that if not more than twelve are selected the Committee will be pre- pared to have them completed to the extent indicated in No. 15 without expense to the Council.

Explains that the Committee are en- gaged in the preliminary work of collecting views for the South African lectures, and would be glad of any help he could give in securing photographs and sketches of the nature indicated. Enquires whether the official photo- grapher of the High Commissioner's office could take or collect a number of original views to supplement those to be chosen from the High Com- missioner's collection, for which the Committee would be glad to pay him a reasonable fee.

States, in reply to No. 22, that the distribution of the slides in question in this country is in the hands of the Trade Commissioner, who will, no doubt, if applied to, meet the wishes of the Committee.

Conveys Her Majesty's thanks for the copy of the "Sea Road to the East," and states that there is no objection to publishers announcing that the Queen bas accepted a copy.

Expresses satisfaction and appreciation of the Committee of his work in con- nexion with the lectures on the "Sea Road to the East."
