Transmits, in reply to No. 83, copy of a despatch from Natal stating that Ministers are in entire sympathy but desire that the matter of export duties should be referred to a Сon- ference between the South African Governments, and of a despatch to the Transvaal asking for the views of Ministers.
Improvement of Veterinary Matters. Forwards copy of a despatch from Mr. Cave, at Zanzibar, stating that it is improbable that a new Veterinary Officer will be required for some years to come, and that no advantage would be derived from a visit of inspection of cattle at the present time, and re- questing that an arrangement may be made whereby the services of a bacteriologist could be made use of in the event of the outbreak of cattle (lisease.
Swine Fever in the East Africa Protectorate. Acknowledges receipt of No. 158, and submits report by the Acting Chief Veterinary Officer and pamphlet on the nature of the disease and the pre- cantions necessary.
