Acknowledges the receipt of No. 4: expresses regret that the necessary instructions were not given to the Crown Agents in 1904; and states that as the five years have now elapsed no future provision will be made.
Sees
no reason why the increase temporarily made in the Imperial contribution to the Fund should be maintained if no corresponding in- crease is to be made in the contribu- tions from the Colonies, and enquires whether the Government of India has been asked to increase its grant.
Encloses reports by Drs. Stephens and Breinl, and Mr. Newstead, for the six months ended 30th April, and a statement showing the expenditure of the Government Grant for 1908.
Reports that the annual grant of £100 has been voted on the Estimates for the current year, and the Legislative Council will be asked when it meets to authorize the payment of a similar sum until 1913–14.
