IN compliance with the request contained in your Lordship's telegram of the 29th October, I have the honour to transmit herewith a copy of the first quarterly report on the Survey School, with a covering letter from the Director of Surveys.
2. Six pupils are under instruction and are reported to have made good progress during the quarter.
3. A more comprehensive report will be made by the Director of Surveys at the end of this year, of which a copy will be sent to your Lordship as soon as it is received.

Survey Department, Lagos, West Africa, 2 November, 1908. HEREWITH is forwarded the first quarterly report of the Survey School.
2. I have inspected this school monthly and am well satisfied with the general
progress of the pupils.
3. They have already received sufficient elementary education to enable them
to enter upon the course of instruction without difficulty.
4. The first quarter has been largely devoted to book work. During the second quarter, the pupils will be instructed in the elements of practical surveying, and
at the end of the year, I propose to forward a comprehensive report on the progress of the school.
