Doctors' Commons, July 7, 1865.
I AM honoured with your commands, signified in Mr. Elliot's letter of the 30th ultimo, stating that he was directed to transmit the transcript of an Act passed by the Legislature of Bermuda in July 1864, and entitled No. 977, cap. 9. "An Act to make "certain provisions and Regulations for the exercise within these Islands of their "offices by Bishops and Clergy of the Protestant Episcopal Churches in Scotland and "the United States of America," and Mr. Elliot was pleased to request that I would furnish you, Sir, with my opinion whether this Act may properly be submitted for Her Majesty's sanction. A copy of the Imperial Act of 59 George Third, entitled "An Act to permit the Archbishop of Canterbury and York and the Bishop of London for the time being to admit persons into Holy Orders specially for the Colonies." was also enclosed.
