and Appendices of the Committee appointed to consider the practicability of introducing a gold standard of currency into the Straits Settlements and neighbouring Malay States, and requests viewì on the varidus points indated.
Expresses opinion that if it is decided to adopt a gold standard it would be best to leave the important point of the value of the dollar to be decided in the light of experience, but that the Government might fairly aim at a standard of two shillings.
Transmite report of the Straits Settle- ments Currency Committee and copy of No. 3, aud enquires whether the Government of India could undertake the coinage of the new dollar if adopted, and on what terms under the conditions specified.
