Transmits copy of a report by the Director of Public Health and of correspondence with the Government of Bombay on the subject; states that he has asked for the services of Dr. Edington, of Cape Colony; sub- mits, for approval, measures suggested to combat the disease.
Reports decision of the Council of Government to slaughter, without compensation, all animals markedly attacked with "Surra," and states steps taken to carry out the decision.
Telegram (Rec. Aug. 14) | Enquires if the Secretary of State would sanction the raising of a loan of Rs.1,000,000 to provide mechanical transport to take the place of draught animals.
