Enclosing an extract from the minutes of the Executive Council recommending a re-distribution of the grants in aid of the stipends of ministers, together with copies of correspondence with the Angli- can Bishop of Mauritius and the Roman Catholic Bishop of Port Louis on the subject.

Enclosing a notice of motion by Dr. Beaugeard in the Council of Government in favour of a re- distribution of the ecclesiastical grants on a scale proportioned to the number of adherents of the two churches.

Enclosing a letter from the Bishop of Mauritius requesting that the Secretary of State will suspend his judgment on Dr. Beaugeard's motion until he (Bishop Royston) has been able to lay before Lord Knutsford the position of the Church of England with respect to ecclesiastical grants.
