An Act to regulate the Militia.
"This Act repeals all the former Acts on the subject, from the 1st July, 1855.
The Militia is divided into two classes, the Sedentary and the Active; the last consisting of Volunteer Corps* of Cavalry, Artillery, and Rifles, with Marine Companies at certain places and a Company of Volunteer Engineers in each of the eighteen military districts into which the province is divided; and the former of all the other men liable to serve in the militia, that is, all men from the age of 18 to 60, and not spe- cially exempted; these are again divided into 'service men,' or those between 18 and 40, and 'reserve men,' or those from 40 to 60 years of age. The service men are again divided into
