Telecommunications Transfer.

Reuters report datelined Hong Kong 29th October states transfer to Cable & Wireless Ltd. of certain functione of Telecommunications Department will be effected from 1st November. Report suggests that initially ship to shore telegrams only will be affected but that Company will eventually take over certain other reserved services.

I have only just received copies of draft agreement enclosed in your savingram No. 686 and am still in consultation with other Departments concerned Pegarding transfer of certain of the services mentioned in your telegram No. 916. It may be necessary to suggest certain reservations particularly regarding broadcastings ană aeradio gervices but I will furnish you with my commenta on the subject as soon as possible. Meanwhile I hope that no definite · arrangements will be made for transfer of other than ship to shore services until you have received ng comments.
