1. Reference paragraph 4 of (100), General Festing attended a meeting on the morning of Saturday the 25th June in Mr. Paskin's room. Also present
were his A.D. C. Mr. Paskin, Mr. Scarlett (Foreign office), Mr. James (C.R.0.) and myself.
2. A very satisfactory discussion took place, ranging over a wide field of matters af ecting Hong Kong and including specifically the danger that measures against Communist-inspired subversive action in Hong Kong might be regarded in some Commonwealth and other friendly countries as
"colonial repression"; the refugee problem; immigration control and registration of the population; and the attitude of the British commercial com unity towards the Chinese communists.
