Development of Counter Propaganda.
It
It soomad to mo from reading the local procs and from the press conference that much moro could be done by judicious counter propaganda for the population is no doubt subject to the influence of hoavy Communist propaganda both by pross and radio. Our own broadcasting servico might be re-examined. I was impressed by what I heard from the U.S.A. broadcasting service which persistently puts the U.S.A. over, whilst as I listened for example in Coylon to a British Overscas Servico broadcast, it summarised newspaper Editorials in, no doubt, an impartial manner, but th roby leaving the impression, o.g. in relation to our own dock strike and railway dispute that nationalisation had failed and that the Government could do nothing about it. It seems of the utmost importance that the freedom and comparativo prosperity of Chinoso in Hong Kong should bo
constantly placed in contrast with the daily lessoning of frocdom under a police stato in China and the lowor standard of life there.
