I had to borrow these papers from you yesterday for Mr. Paskin.

I have sent on separate minutes about the actual provision of wire to Mr. Trafford Smith independently, but there is one point which requires consideration. If there is to be no "Dannert" wire a considerable amount of pickets will be involved for ordinary wire, and, thanks Hong Kong has no supplies of timber available of its own and would, presumably, have to import unless pickets are already available. Would it be well to send a short telegram to the Governor, noting the contents of No. 21, saying we presume that the necessary pickets are available as it is impossible now to provide "Dannert" wire, ask him to confirm and tell him what the answer is about delivery dates - reference paragraph 3 of No. 21 (if this
