CONFIDENTIAL
(e) Several immediate signals were received in the Signal
Office 2 to 4 hours after they had been signed, Thi probably due to the fact that they were duplicatedut even so the delay is excessive and gives an untrue picture of delays to the recipient. The originator himself must prepare the correct number of copies.
AS
(f) Signal No. 6 GO DTC '071400 was offered to Ede immediately
it was received. They refused to accept it saying they had had the information from the police at 1315 hrs. the signal referred to was to revert to "Annoyance" Brigade was wrong in acting on such an order from the Commissioner of Police.
Conclusion:
(a) The standard of communication has improved and the choice
of wireless equipment for this Command appears to have been a correct one.
(b) Most Staff Officers require training in R/T and in order
that they may have this with the minimum dislocation of work, phoneless days will be periodically arranged when all conversations will be by wireless remote controlled to the exchange. Full details will be issued later to all concerned.
(c) All Officers will be instructed to read "Notes on Message Writing 1947", which was issued on a liberal scale to all Branches, Services, Ens and Regts under cover of CSO 569852 dated 26 Sep 47.
(d) Neglect to make the fullest use of existing communications in the area of operations emphasises the need of a central Signals Control. On future exercises a small Command Group will be established to ensure the fullest use of all such facilities. This will consist of CC Signal Scuadron, Wireless Officer and Lines Officer.
(e) A Wireless receiver only should be installed in the "ar
Room so that Ops Staff can listen to the forward nets, and in future this will be arranged.
(f) Points affecting Signal Son personnel will be passed to the Sqn for action including that covering the more technical matters which have not been included here.
