Now Ko Ng, the last time you came before us you gave
us some evidence which we were satisfied was not true.
Now, I could have sent you to gaol for that, but I thought it wouldhe better to give you another opportunity of answering the questions properly. Since
then you have made a statement, which you have signed
before Mr Lau Chu Pak. Do you remember having made a
statement ?

Now, I will read the statement over to you, and you
will sign it if you still say it is correct, and I
will presently ask some questions about it.
Statement read as follows:-

"Ko Ng of the Fook Cheung Wo Kee Poultry Lan No 17 Ko
"sing street, states:-
"I am the Manager of the above Lan, or dealer in
wholesale on poultry. Inspector Any occasionally came "and passed my shop and complained of the filthy "condition of the fowl crates. I first got to know his "name through the Inspector's interpreter. I sent the "Inspector some fowls and ducks last Christmas, and
"before then on or before the 15th day of the 8th moon "(13th September 1905) while the staircase of my shop "was being altered, he went in and asked if I had a "plan prepared and permission obtained for the work. I "said no, and he told me that I must get permission.
"Next day he sent someone to my shop and called me to "his house in No High Street Sai Ying Pun. I can
"point out the house if I go there. I went with his
"man. I saw the Inspector in his house and he asked mə
"if I had taken steps to get the plan prepared yet. I "said no, and at the same time anked him what was the
