the other day, and tell us something that was not

true. I am now satisfied he has been telling us something which iɛ the truth, partially the truth. There is nothing to be afraid of, and if he sees his

foki and Mr Chan A Chi, I want him to tell them there is nothing to be afraid of, so long as they tell us the truth. We dont want to do them any harm. We want to prevent them being blackmailed to the extent of $160, or so many tasls, whatever it may be, and it im very silly of him not to come and tell us the truth.

They are only doing themselves harm.

I want you (witness) to tell Mr Chu to write to Mr

Chan A Chl and tell him to come back at once.

We are here to help the Chinese, Row can we help the Chinese, and prevent than being squonzed if they dont come here and tell us the truth ? Tell him the Governor has told us to sit here, to try to help the Chinege, and that is what ye are trying to do. How can we help you, if you want help yourselves ↑ How, tell Mr Chu to write to Mr Chan A Chi to come hack at

once,

and tell us everything that happened. It will b the best thing he can do. Alright now, go away and

see Mr Chu.

Witness withdraws.
