A. Well, there is a cars which struck me as being very
peculiar. Last year, the Architsots of the Hongkong
Hotel, Palmer and Turner, sent in plans to the
Government. The plans came in to me in the usual may,
and I examined them, and found they were proposing to
raise the Hongkong Hotel to 105 feet inQueens Road. I
objected, but my objection was not taken much notice
of. But, in the course of going into the matter, a
similar application was put in by Mr Lema, Architect,
for a Hotel in Kowloun. That was refused, but the
Hongkong Hotel was granted.
