A. Well, there is a cars which struck me as being very

peculiar. Last year, the Architsots of the Hongkong

Hotel, Palmer and Turner, sent in plans to the

Government. The plans came in to me in the usual may,

and I examined them, and found they were proposing to

raise the Hongkong Hotel to 105 feet inQueens Road. I

objected, but my objection was not taken much notice

of. But, in the course of going into the matter, a

similar application was put in by Mr Lema, Architect,

for a Hotel in Kowloun. That was refused, but the

Hongkong Hotel was granted.
