Press report dated 21st October from

Shanghai quoted Lord Ammon as having said "high level talks are progressing on the issue of Hong Kong". To counteract serious effect of such announcements in Hong Kong, I have made the

following statement "Evidence of Lord Amnon has been misreported, for I am unaware of any talks on the issue of Hong Kong".
