The Humble Petition of the
undersigned.
Respectfully Sheweth as follows :-
We have read the above written Petition of Shum Wai Yau
and though we are not cognisant with the full details set out
therein, we are satisfied that the main outline of the petition
is correct to the best of our knowledge and belief and we
therefore add our respectful representations to that of the
said Shum Wai Yau for the grant to the said Shum Wai Yau of his
Petition and plea.
We exhort and plead, in the name of a free, uncontrolled
Press, for an unhesitating, firm denial to what is tantamount to
ą blackmailing attempt to exercise political control over the
Chinese Press of this British Colony of Hong Kong •
And Your Petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray, etc.
