Do you mean by that that he may have destroyed books or kept 4194

then back or that he never did keep proper books ?

I don't think he kept back books but I think he has been

keeping books in any way he likes. He does not keep a proper

set of business books.

I thought men of that class were so very careful in keeping 4196

books. Is that usual? That is a very important point because

if we are satisfied he has kept books and not produced them, -

that is contempt. If he is careless he can only be punished
