The Inspectors in the Districts in which the cemeteries are have certain work to do according to the Bye Laws, but the work has been to see that there is no nuisance

arising in the cemeteries, from illegitimate exhumation,

dug that the graves are properly done, and from time to time I think I have asked them to keep a general eye on the way the cemeteries are being laid out not to take

charge of the work, it should be done by a qualified Surveyor,

but when they go to the ce eteries, and when they notice anything wrong, to report.

Until the last few days, I always understood it was the

duty of the Sanitary Surveyor, and nobody else. I never

understood it was th duty of Inspectors under me to lay

out graves.

Yr Bryan was the only person to lay out the graves? 3444

H was the only person who had those regulations: "When he came and spoke to me about it, turned up the Bye

Laws and asked him what Regulations he was referring to.

I had not seen them. A day or two ago he produced those

Regulations,
