After consultation with Hong Kong Defence Committee and with the agreement of all members, I request that British Defence Committee in South East Asia will give urgent consideration to the following difficulties which have arisen in connection with the future Garrison of Hong Kong.

It was agreed by South East Asia Committee at a meeting on 30th August that the minimun permament Garrison required for Hong Kong from next spring Yould be one British Brigade of Infantry and one Regiment of Field Artillery, with another Brigade and another Vield See Regiment readily available to reinforce Hong Kong. top secret telegram to 3.A.C.S.E. A. to Chiefs of Staff S.E.AC.0.8. 747 timed 0603172 September, 1946.
