De
Tonea,
We have received lotter dated the 23rd of August from the thing. Association about civil air facilities ut llong long, a copy of which we underst.nd has been sent to your Ministry.
The Chairman of the Chin Association Eye that he understands the present Lirport in liong Kong is inadequate for large aircraft and cert in Arlines are already looking to Canton to supply their needs. The China Association view with concern the prospect of Hong Kong losing its key position and desire to represent that un airfield of adequate size be constructed. If the construction of such an airfield has been delayed because of fin:ncial considerations, the Chinu ssociation would suggest that it be constructed first and the financial implications decided luter.
I enclose with this letter a draft reply which we would wish to
return
