Tones,
We have received" letter dated the 23rd of August from the Chinc Association about civil air facilities ut long long, a copy of which we underst.nd has been sent to your Ministry.
The Chairmen of the China ABBociation Eye that he understands the present Lirport in liong Kong is inudequate for large aircraft and certain Arlines are already looking to Canton to supply their needs.
The Chinu Association view with concern the prospect of Hong Kong losing its key position and desire to represent that an airfield of adequate size be constructed. If the construction of such an airfield has been delayed because of financial considerations, the Chinu Association would suggest that it be constructed first and the financial implic: tions decided later.
I enclose with this letter a draft reply which we would wish to
return HAJOR I. JONES, M.B.E.
