The Hong Kong Govermont are, of course, anxious to avoid resuming cultivated land. The Ping-Shan aroa, was originally resumed for the proposed Air Fiold, but, with the removal of this it has already been publicly announced that Government wore proposing to do-rosumo 11 this area.
3.
Under the circumstances this Board focls that the B.J.C.B. should clsɔ oxamine the advantages and disadvantages of the Ping Shan site, with particular attention to Coylɔn direction
251 degroos) and to a losser degroo, the Australian direction 145 dogroes), with a view to making a decision rogerding final acceptance of the two areas, and the approximate siting in the respective arons. A provisional invostigation would tend to indicato the necessity for placing the site to the East or North-ast of Shok- Po or for putting the Colabɔ/HONO hobics to the South of the road, and possibly the Australian onos claɔ. In any caso it will be soon that the requisito scrooning clearance is beroly obtainable as a Transmitting Site, unloss the sito is ɔved so far to the East as to possibly reduce the separation from the Mai Pɔ sito to a figure below 5 miles. In this connection Shoots 9-10-13- and 14 of the aforementioned map, together givo a very clear picture of this area and the hills in the vicinity.
9. From the point of view of a Receiving Site the disadvantages of close proximity of the main motor road would wo inngine also determine to a large extent tho final siting of aerials. This applios to both areas.
10. At Ping Shan the recently crected R..F. constructional Camp buildings to the West of the area and within 1 to 2 miles would be a possible asset for housing personnel and (Y) might be particularly interested in this. A now road from the Min road towards Shok Po built by the R.A.F. and a largo levelled off aroc. in that vicinity originally destined to bo a Car Park are both likely to prove useful.
11.
The question of lengthy foodors would of course be involved in any schone nocossitating departure from the round-the-clock nhobics with a Contral Station Schono. The possibility of the use of Wido Bend Amplifiers to overcɔno foodor loss, particularly whore double ended Rhombics are used for Roccption, might be considered and these night possibly be fixed on the tower norrest the building, in each case, thus maintaining oqual lovels from each pair of terminations.
12. It is requested that a decision as to whether the BJCB consider the above sitos suitable may be forwarded by signal as carly as possible. This is particularly nocessary in view of the fact that the Do-rosuing of the Ping Shan site, now no longer roquired by the R.A.F. is under active consideration.
