Dear Sirs,

With reference to the overdrawn account in my name with the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation against share securities deposited by me, I beg most respectfully to inform you that in conformity with your desire to have this account settled, I have been doing my utmost to dispose off my shares, and have been able so far to clear the greater part of my indebtedness to the said Bank, and have reason to believe that in near future,

I shall be able to pay off my indebtedness in full.

As you are no doubt aware there is no regular market for shares in Hong Kong at present, and moreover all my share securities being in the enemy firms are difficult to dispose off. besides I have derived no income whatsoever from my securities and have no other source of income since the outbreak of the Greater East Asia War, and consequently have been helped by my friends for my living expenses.
