An Ordinance to amend the Road Traffic Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council thereof.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Road Traffic (Amendment) Short Uile and Ordinance 1976 and shall come into operation on a day to be appointed commencrowel. by the Governor by notice in the Gazette.

2 Section 2 of the principal Ordinance is amended—

Amendment of

(a) in subsection (1) by deleting the definition of "tax?"" and substitut- (Cap. 120)

ing the following-

++ ax" means a car which is registered as a Hong Kong and Kowloon taxi or a New Territories taxi" under this Ordinance;";

(8) in subsection (2) by deleting paragraph (b) and substituting the

following

"(b) Hong Kong and Kowloon maxis, that is to say any cars. not being New Territories taxis, which stand or ply for hire within Hong Kong, Kowloon or the New Territories and in which the passengers are carried for hire or reward under a contract expressed or implied for the use of the vehicles as a whole at a rate Indicated by the taximeters;
