prescribed by the Chief Justice by rules under section 72A with respect to pupillage and to passing of examinations;".

3. The principal Ordinance is amended by adding after Bection 72 the following new section—

"Rules for barristers in Hong Ков

72A. The Chief Justice may make rules in rela- tion to the admission of persons who seek to qualify or buve qualified as barristers in Hong Kong-

(a) regulating the enrolment of students seeking

to become barristers in Hong Kong: (b) regulating the period of pupillage to be served and the examinations to be passed by such students:

(c) generally for the better control of such

students.".

4. The principal Ordinance is amended in section 73(1)(d) by deleting the word "overseas".

5. The principal Ordinance is amended by adding, after the beading to Part VIIL the following new section-

"Advisory Committee on Legal Education.

74A. (1) There is hereby established an Advisory Committee on Legal Education which may advise the Chief Justice and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong on the education, professional training and qualifications for admission of barristers and solicitors.

(2) The Advisory Committee on Legal Educa- tion shall consist of-

(a) a judge, nominated by the Chief Justice, who

shall be the Chairman;

(b) the President of the Society, or his represen-

tative:

(c) the Chairman of the Bar Committee, or his

representative; and

(d) a person nominated by the Vice-Chancellor

of the University of Hong Kong.”.
