Regulation 18 of the principal regulations is amended- (a) in paragraph (1) by deleting "40 cents" and substituting

the following-

*one dollar"; and

(b) in paragraph (1A) by-

(1) deleting *40 cents" and substituting the following-

"60 cents"; and

(ii) deleting "50 cents" and substituting the following-

Regulation 21 of the principal regulations is amended- (a) by deleting paragraph (3); and

(b) by deleting paragraph (6) and substituting the follow-

ing

"(6) The fee for an advice of payment shall be 60 cents if paid at the time the money order is purchased or 80 cents if paid thereafter.".

Regulation 23 of the principal regulations is amended

by deleting "$300" and substituting the following-

**$200”.

10. Regulation 24 of the principal regulations is amended by deleting "35 cents and 80 cents" and substituting the follow- ing-

"40 cents and $1.20",

11. Regulation 27 of the principal regulations is amended—

(a) by deleting "40 cents" and substituting the following-

"one dollar":

(b) by deleting "$300" and substituting the following- "$200; and

(c) in the Schedule, by deleting paragraph (d) and sub-

stituting the following-

"(d) An insured box must not exceed 2 lb. in weight and must not measure more than 12 inches in length,

8 inches in breadth and 4 inches in depth."

Explanatory Note

(This Note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general purport).

Regulations 2, 4, 5 and 6 amend the principal regulations so as to conform with agreements contained in the 1964 and 1969 Conventions of the Universal Postal Union to which Her Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom has acceded on Hong Kong's behalf.

The agreements abolished the "commercial paper" and "sample" post categories.

Regulation 3 revises the scale of maximum weight for postal articles. Regulation 7 increases foes for registration services as the existing fees have been found to be uneconomical.

Regulation a) amends regulation 21 of the principal regulations by revoking paragraph (3) which is of no effect in that it purports to prescribe a postal charge payable in the United Kingdom,

Regulation 6) increases the fee payable for an advice of payment. Regulation 9 increases the charge for insurance from 50 cents for cach $300 to 30 cents for each £200.

Regulation 10 increases the selling price of Commonwealth and Inter- national Reply Coupons.

Regulation 11 increases the fees payable on the registration and insurance of insured boxes and amends the dimensions of insured boxes.
