An Ordinance to amend the Criminal Procedure Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Criminal Procedure (Amendment) (No. 2) Ordinance 1971.

2. The principal Ordinance is amended by adding after section 9A the following new section-

"Rules for

allowance to witnesses.

9B. (1) The Chief Justice may, with the payment of approval of the Legislative Council, make rules pro- viding for the payment of an allowance to witnesses in criminal proceedings before any court, and such rules may, in particular, provide for-

(a) the classification of witnesses;

(b)

the payment of different rates of allowance

to different classes of witnesses; and

Short title.
