Amendment of Schedule.

5.

The Schedule to the principal rules is amended in Form 4 by deleting "his appeal" and substituting the following-

"the appeal".

(This Note is not part of the rules, but is intended to indicate their general purport).

The amendments made by rules 2 and 3 enable legal aid to be granted to a respondent in an appeal by the Attorney General from the District Court by way of case stated.

The amendments made by rule d provide that the fee for a solicitor assigned to give legal uid will be fixed at $750 and that his refresher will be determined by the Director of Legal Aid on a scale of $250 to $500.

THE OVERSEAS SOLICITORS (ADMISSION)

(AMENDMENT) ORDER 1969.

At the Court at Buckingham Palace,

the 22nd day of October 1969.

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.

Her Majesty, in pursuance of the powers conferred on Her, as regards England, by section 4 of the Solicitors Act 1957(x). as amended by section 3 of and Schedule 4 to the Solicitors Act 1965(b) and, as regards Scotland, by section 2 of the Colonial Solicitors Act 1900(c), and of all other powers thereunto Her en- abling, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Overseas Solicitors (Admission) (Amendment) Order 1969.

(2) The Interpretation Act 1889(d) shall apply with the neces- sary adaptations, for the purpose of interpreting this Order and otherwise in relation thereto as it applies for the purpose of inter- preting and in relation to Acts of Parliament.

2. The following amendments shall be made to the Overseas Solicitors (Admission) Order 1964(e) as amended (f), namely:

(0) after paragraph (1) of Article 3 shall be inserted the

following paragraph:

"(ii) an applicant shall have passed such qualifying examination as is required by the laws or regulations in force in the territory specified in Schedule I to this Order in which he is a solici- tor of a person applying for admission as a solicitor in that territory who has not qualified for admission in any other territory:"
