LEGAL AID IN CRIMINAL CASES (AMENDMENT)
RULES 1969.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9A of the Criminal Procedure Ordinance, the Chief Justice bas made the following rules-
1.
These rules may be cited as the Legal Aid in Criminal Cases (Amendment) Rules 1969 and shall come into operation on the day appointed by the Chief Justice for the commencement of the principal rules.
2. Rule 2 of the principal rules is amended in paragraph (1) by inserting in the definition of "appellant" after “Supreme Court" the following.

"and a respondent in an appeal under section 38 of the District Court Ordinance".
Rule 4 of the principal rules is amended by deleting "and" after paragraph (b) and inserting the following—

"(ba) the respondent in an appeal to the Full Court under section 38 of the District Court Ordinance may be granted legal aid under these rules for the appeal and in any proceedings preliminary or incidental thereto; and".
4. Rule 21 of the principal rules is amended, in sub- paragraph (a) of paragraph (1
(a) by deleting "not exceeding", where it first occurs, and
substituting the following-
"OP": and
(5) by deleting "not exceeding two hundred and fifty dollars"
and substituting the following-
"of not less than two hundred and fifty dollars and not exceeding five hundred dollars”.
