ROAD TRAFFIC ORDINANCE.

(Chapter 220).

ROAD TRAFFIC (DRIVING LICENCES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 1969.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 of the Road Traffic Ordinance, the Governor in Council has made the following regulations—

commencement.

1. These regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic Citation and (Driving Licences) (Amendment) Regulations 1969 and shall come into operation on a day to be appointed by the Governor by notice in the Gazette.

Regulation 3 of the principal regulations is amended by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following -

"(i) public light huses and private light buses.".

3. Regulation 4 of the principal regulations is revoked and replaced by the following-

"Drven of goods vehicles

entitled to drive other classes of vehicles.

4. Any person who is the holder of a driving licence which entitles him to drive all goods vehicles shall by virtue thereof also be entitled to drive any taxi, public omnibus, public light bus, public car. private omnibus or private light bus if there is dis- played on the front of the vehicle a plate showing, in block letters and characters not less than four inches high, on a red background the words "OUT OF SERVICE" and the Chinese characters "****", and it-

(a) the vehicle is a taxi--

(i) the taximeter is covered in such man- ner that it is not visible from outside the taxi; and

(ii) not more than one person in addition to the driver is carried thereon; and

(iii) it is not for the time being used for the carriage of passengers for hire or reward; (b) the vehicle is a public or private omnibus-

(i) not more than four persons in addition to the driver are carried thereon; and

(ii) it is not for the time being used for the carriage of passengers for hire or reward;
