Amendment.

Section 77 is amended by deleting "magis- Urate" wherever it occurs and substituting in cach case the following-

"District Judge".

Section 27 is amended in subsection (1) by deleting "a magistrate" and substituting the following-

"the District Courl",

(1) Section 31 is amended-

(a) in subsection (1), by deleting "any magistrate or justice of the peace* and substituting the following-

"a District Judge":

(b) in subsection (3), by deleting "magistrate of justice of the peace" and substituting the following

"District Judge",

(2) Sections 32, 36, 37, 42 und 62 are amended by deleting "magistrate” wherever it occurs and Rubstituling in each case the follow- ing-

"District Judge",

(3) Section 62 la amended by deleting "magistrate or a justice of the peace" and sub- stituting the following-

"District Judge".

(4) Section 71 is repealed.

(1) Section 30 is amended-

(a) in subsection (3), by deleting “a magis- trate shall be a competent court and shall have power to hear and determine in a summary manner as provided by the Magistrates Ordinance" and sub- stituting the following ›

"the District Court shall be a com- peleal court and shall have power to hear and determinc":

ing the following—

(4) The District Court shall not make an order that the guardian. ship of the Director of Social Wel- fare shall cease unless it is satisfied that the person who as a result oË such order or of any fresh appoint- ment of a guardian which the Dia- trict Court may make is a fit person to be the guardian of the infant.".

(2) Section 33 is amended-

(a) by deleting "magistrate" wherever it occurs and substituting in each case the following-

(1) Section 2 is amended by deleting the definition of "civil debi" and substituting the following-

"“civil debt" means any sum of money claimed to be due which is recoverable before & magistrate otherwise than on information:",

(2) Section 66 in repealed.

(3) Section 67 is amended by adding the following new subsection after subsection (2)-

"0) The payment of any costs ordered

to be paid by the complainant or the defend- ant in proceedings for the recovery of a civil debt shall, subject to paragraph (5) of the proviso to subsection (1), be enforced in like manner as such civil debt.”.

(4) Section 120 is amended in subsection (2) by deleting "on a magistrate's summons" and substituting the following-

"in the District Court",

Section 115 is amended in subsection (3) by deleting "summarily before a magistrate" and substituting the following-

"in the District Court as a civil debt".

Section It is amended in subsection (2) by deleting "A court or magistrate" and substituting the following-

"The Supreme Court or the District Court".

(1) Rutes 1 and 2 are amended by deleting "a magistrate" and "the magistrate" wherever they occur and substituting in each case the following-

"The District Court".
