to such movement not being contrary to any other traffic sign:
(d) the amber light which follows the green light shall be taken as prohibiting vehicular traffic to proceed beyond the stop line or, if the stop line is not for the time being visible or there is no stop line, beyond the signals, except in the case of any vehicle which, when the amber light first appears, is so close to the line or signals that it cannot safely be stopped before passing the line or signals; Provided that where a green arrow is used in conjunction with traffic signals vehicles may proceed in the direction indicated by the arrow during such time as the arrow is illuminated notwithstanding that they would otherwise be required by the signals to stop.
(2) The significance of the traffic signals pre- scribed by paragraph (3) of regulation 11 shall be that the intermittent red lights shall be taken as prohibiting vehicular traffic to proceed beyond the stop line on the carriageway provided in conjunction with the signals or, if the stop line is not for the time being visible or there is no stop line, beyond the signals, except in the case of any vehicle which, when the lights first begin to flash, is so close to the line or signals that it cannot safely be stopped before passing the line or signals.".
Regulation 13 of the principal regulations is amended—
(a) in paragraph (1), by deleting "Traffic lights" and sub-
stituting the following—

"Traffic signals";
(b) by deleting paragraph (2) and substituting the following-- "(2) The provisions of sub-paragraphs (c), (d), (e) and (F) of paragraph (2) of regulation 11 shall, but the provisions of sub-paragraphs (4), (b) and (g) of that para- graph shall not, apply to such traffic signals."; and
(c) in paragraph (3)—
(i) by inserting the following before "signals"-
"traffic", and

(ii) by deleting "signal" where it occurs_in_sub- paragraphs (a) and (b) and substituting the following—
"light".

Explanatory Note.
(This Note is not part of the regulations, but la intended to indicate their general purport).
These regulations provide that the lines or words placed on a read under paragraph (1) of regulation 7 shall be of such colour as the Com- missioner may approve by notice in the Gazette. This new provision is intoaded to remove the existing restriction that such lines or words shall be yellow or white or partly yellow and partly white.
The regulations further provide for the introduction of a new type of traffic light signals, consisting of twin dashing red lights arranged horizontally. The new trattic signala are intended for use principally at railway level-crossings but may be used as alternatives to the existing red. amber and green traffic signals for the control of vehicular traffic,
These regulations also include some minor amendments intended to clarify the principal regulations in their application to traffic signala.
