PUBLIC HEALTH (ANIMALS AND BIRDS) ORDINANCE. (Chapter 139).

PUBLIC HEALTH (ANIMALS AND BIRDS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 1968.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Public Hearth (Animals and Birds) Ordinance, the Governor in Council has made the following regulations-

1. These regulations may be cited as the Public Health (Animals and Birds) (Amendment) Regulations 1968 and shall come into operation on the day appointed for the commencement of the Abattoirs By-laws 1968.

2. Regulation 2 of the principal regulations is revoked and replaced by the following-

"Dung and litter to be

properly dealt with.

2. While any vessel or aircraft which has on board any animals or birds not destined for the Colony remains

(a) in the case of a vessel, in the waters of the

Colony; or

(b) in the case of an aircraft, at any aerodrome

or landing place in the Colony,

all dung of the animals, and all scrapings, litter and sweepings removed from the vicinity of the animals or birds, shall at intervals not exceeding twenty-four hours be dealt with and disposed of as the senior veterinary officer may direct.".

3 Regulation 3 of the principal regulations is revoked and replaced by the following-

"No landing

of carcases

except under rpecial

permit.

3. Carcases of animals or birds which have died or have been slaughtered-

(d) on board a vessel while in the waters of the

Colony or during a voyage; or

(b) on an aircraft while at any aerodrome or landing place in Hong Kong or during a flight.

shall not be landed in the Colony without a special permit."*.

4. Regulation 4 of the principal regulations is amended- (a) in paragraph (1)

(1) by deleting the full stop at the end of sub-paragraph (b) and substituting a semicolon:

Cilation and commencement.

Revocation and replacement of regulation 2.
