3. (1) Wherever the Governor in Council finds under the provisions of the Deportation of Aliens Ordinance that any person is liable to deportation, he may, in lieu of issuing against such person a deportation order under section 3 of that Ordinance, make a police supervision order against such person.

(2) The Governor in Council or the Governor, as the case may be, may make a police supervision order against any person against whom a deportation order has been made upon the, rescission thereof in accordance with the provisions of section 17A (Cap. 240), of the Deportation of Aliens Ordinance.

(3) The court or a magistrate may make a police supervision order against any person upon his conviction of an offence specifick in the First Schedule. Any such order may be in addition to any penalty which may be inflicted for such offence.

(4) Where a magistrate orders a person to execute a bond inf (Cap. 245). accordance with subsection (3) of section 8 of the Public Order Ordinance, he may also make a police supervision order against such person,

4. A police supervision order may be in the appropriate form: in the Second Schedule,

(3) The date of commencement of the period of police super- vision shall be the date on which the police supervision order is made:

Provided that where such order is made by the court or a magistrate under the provisions of subsection (3) of section 3 upon conviction of an offence against a person who is sentenced to imprisonment in respect of such offence, the date of commencement of such period shall be the date upon which such person is released from prison and that date shall be endorsed on the order by the Commissioner of Prisons.

(3) If any person against whom a police supervision order has been made at any time undergoes during the currency of such order a term of imprisonment, such order shall be deemed to be suspended while such person is undergoing such imprisonment and shall be deemed to be in force again on the termination of such term of imprisonment, but no such term shall be reckoned as forming part of the period of police supervision ordered. Any period during which a police supervision order is deemed to be suspended by virtue of this subsection shall be endorsed on the order by the Commissioner of Prisons.

(4) If any person against whom a police supervision order has been made is ordered to be deported under the provisions of the Deportation of Aliens Ordinance, the police supervision order shall (Cap. 240). be deemed to be of no effect as from the date upon which the deportation order is served upon him.

(2) Whenever a police supervision order is made against Service of
