The regulations contained in the Schedule to The Waterworks Ordinance, 1938, are amende by

(i) the deletion of paragraphs (g) and (m) of

regulation 7 and the substitution ther of the following-

"(g) Meters shall be read at such times s

the water authority may direct." "(m) If a meter is found to be out of order. or if it is removed for repair or altera tion, a workmen's note giving the last reading of a meter shall be ki at the premises supplied through it On fixing a new meter or refixi the old meter a second workmen's note shall be left at the premises The consumption for the time tha! the meter was out of order or for thr time that the service was without meter shall be calculated according to the average daily rate of op sumption that obtained during the period between any two success readings whilst the meter was in good order prior to the removal of the meter, or, at the discretion of th water authority, according to the average daily rate of consumpti during the period between the tw successive readings immediately

succeeding the fixing of a new meter or the refixing of the old meter.";

(ii) the deletion of sub-paragraph (5) of para

graph (4) Pipes, of regulation 1 and the substitution therefor of the following--

"(5) Lead pipes and lead con- nexions of any kind shall not be per- mitted in any part of an inside or fire service for the conveyance of water from the waterworks”;

(iii) the insertion after sub-paragraph (6) of paragraph (a) Pipes, of regulation 11 of the following-

"(7) Galvanized iron or steel ser- vices shall be not less generally than 3" internal diameter. 1" branches to draw off points may be permitted, but must be kept as short as possible and shall supply not more than one draw off point.

Changes of direc- tion shall be effected by slow bends. Sharp elbows shall not be permit- ted.";

(iv) the deletion of sub-paragraph (1) of para- graph (b) Taps, ball cocks and stop cocks, of regulation 11 and the substitution therefor of the following-

**(1) All Laps, ball cocks and stop cocks shall conform to the latest standards laid down by the British Waterworks Association and the re- levant British Standard Specifica- tion.":

(v) the addition after sub-paragraph (2) of paragraph (b) Taps, ball cocks and stop cocks, of regulation of the following-

"(3) Fittings with threaded out- lets, or any contrivance or device permitting the connecting of rubber
