THE DEFENCE (FINANCE) REGULATIONS, 1940.
Ia purenauce of regulation 1(B) of the Defence (Finance) Regulations, 1940, which have effect by virtue of the Defence Regulations (Confianation and Modification) (No. 1) Order, 1948, the Governor has made the following under
ÜRDER.
1. This order may be cited as the Possession of Gold (Residents) Order, 14.
2. For the purposes of this order "resident of Hong Kong" means any person who has been resident in Hong Kong for a period of not less thun thirty days immediately preceding the day on which he is in possession of gold and any person who, although not resident during such period as storesaid, is in the opinion of the Financial Secretory normally a resident of Hong Kong.
3. Permission is hereby granted to any resident of Hong Kong to possess gold of a fineness of 95% or of a higher percentage and whether nde into the form of articles or not, of a quantity not exceeding in the oggregate 5 troy ounces,

Explanatory Note: The possession of gold made into articles (other than old coina) of a fireness less than 95% is not subject to any restriction under the Defence Finance Regulations.
