THE STAMP ORDINANCE, 1921.
Regulations by the Governor in Council.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 and sub- section (7) of section 12 of the Stamp Ordinance, 1921, His Excellency the Governor in Council has made the following regulations:
REGULATIONS.
1. These regulations may be cited as the Stamp (Use of Clades. Postage Stamps) Regulations, 1949.
2. Sub-section (2) of section 12 of the Stamp Ordinance, Amendment
of sub- 1921, is hereby amended to read as follows-
section (a) of section
"(2) Postage stamps shall not be used for the purpose 12 of the
Scamp of paying any stump duty under this Ordinance except that- Ordinance,
(a) postage stamps and revenue stamps of any denomination which are overprinted by direction of the Governor with the words "contract note** may be used as adhesive stamps for the purposes of sub-head (1) of bead 40 in the Schedule;
(5) postage stamps of any denomination and revenue stamps of any denomination which are by direction of the Governor overprinted as 15 cents, 10 cents or 5 cents stamps may be used as adhesive stamps for the purposes of heads 10 and 86 of the Schedule; and
(c) postage stamps of $1 may be used as adhesive stamps for the purposes of heads 46 and 40 in the Schedule.”
